Wigan St Judes 36

Widnes Albion Bulls 16

ANOTHER defeat for the Albion after looking good value in the first-half, which saw a hat-trick of tries from Gary Richardson, enabling them to have a half-time lead of 12-8, which should have been more with a couple of wasted chances.

The second-half was a complete change around with the Albion struggling to keep possession and putting themselves under pressure in their own half due to too much lost ball.

The home team grew in confidence and scored five tries and four goals without reply despite hard work from Geoff Williams and Mick Donnelly.

Full-back Chris Fenlon was sound under pressure despite the score, while subs Andy Friar and Danny Gilmore kept going when they came on and manufactured a try for Andy Benson with virtually the last play of the match which is one the Albion will have hopefully got out of their system for this week.

Parkside Golborne A 6

Widnes Albion Bulls A 44

THE ALBION gave their best performance of the season to defeat a Golborne side only one place below them in the league.

They opened up a 6-30 interval lead with some fine rugby as the forwards continued to dominate, well led by Stuart Featherstone and Anthony Knight and the promptings of player/coach Tony Yates.

Albion scorers: Tries: Neil Unsworth (2), Joey Morgan (2), Tony Yates (2), Peter Findlater; Goals: Danny Doherty (8).
