A TRAINING consultant for a Winsford company has been honoured at a prestigious awards ceremony as a Mirror Modern Apprentice of the Year.

Emma Vaughan, who works at Spring Skills in Dingle Walk, won the accolade in the private and commercial services category of a North and Mid Cheshire TEC competition.

She was up against five other finalists from around the country.

Emma, aged 22, is now employed by Spring Skills, but completed her modern apprenticeship in business administration at Holt Lloyd in Nat Lane, Winsford.

The Rt Hon David Blunkett, secretary of state for education and employment, was among the guests at the ceremony and also made a speech to the audience.

Emma won a weekend away in Le Touquet, courtesy of one of the event's sponsors, Hoverspeed. She was also presented with a certificate.
