A WIDNES teenager was stabbed in the chest by a "spotty" boy outside the Albion pub in Liverpool Road last Wednesday afternoon.

The 18-year-old victim was knifed in the chest at 4.30pm by a similarly aged boy after an argument had escalated into a fight.

"He's very lucky to be alive. Single stab wounds to the chest often prove fatal," said Det Insp Dougie Shaw, who is leading the hunt for the attacker.

The youth was walking with two of his friends when the attacker produced a knife and threatened the 18-year-old, which caused the fight in which the stabbing occurred.

The attacker then sprinted off in the direction of Chesnut Lodge.

His victim was taken to Whiston Hospital where he is in a stable condition.

The attacker, who police say has a "spotty" complexion was wearing a dark-coloured padded jacket, which had red on the arms or shoulders, a dark baseball hat and blue jeans.

He was roughly 5ft 6ins tall, had very short hair and spoke with a Liverpool/Widnes accent.

Police are pleading for information about the incident. Anyone who can help in finding the attacker is asked to call Det Insp Shaw on 01244 613731.
