HEALTH service training officer John Garside has retired after more than 35 years in nursing, during which he ran the successful Return to Nursing scheme at the East Cheshire NHS Trust.
The scheme is aimed at encouraging former nurses to return to hospital nursing, and provides them with up to date training.
Mr Garside, who lives in Congleton, did his nurse training at Parkside, the former mental health hospital, where he did much of his nursing.
His wife Anne is a former nurse, who later became a homeopath.
She, too, is now retired, and the couple will be spending a lot of time converting and improving their former farmhouse in Brittany.
