I AM writing in response to an article you published on January 14 about a Crewe-based band called Heaven on Earth.

How dare they put other local musicians down as they did, to quote Martin James 'The town was short on musical talent' and 'there's a very small pool of musicians in Crewe that are of any quality'. There may be few musicians who play their style of music but that does not mean there is a lack of talent.

What about local bands such as Charlott's Webb, Flux, Epitaph and Tower Struck Down to name a few (and I apologise to local bands I haven't named) all of whom are very talented.

Although their style and type of music are miles apart this does not detract from their talent. All local bands and musicians should be praised for their hard work and dedication to their craft and not insulted as they were by Martin James.

It seems to me that Heaven on Earth should control their egos if they really want to shine, and perhaps an apology to Crewe musicians wouldn't go amiss, before they really do need to become A Band on The Run....from the many, many talented Crewe musicians.

My comments are not biased, as I am not a musician myself, I just enjoy the talent of local musicians, playing live, whatever the style and type of music they choose to play. To all local musicians I would just like to add - you're doing a good job - keep it up and long live Rock n' Roll.
