TWO new galleries are set to open at Warrington Museum thanks to a £197,000 grant.
Dinosaurs, rare rocks, fossilised footprints and glittering minerals will all be on display in the 'Earth's History' and 'Plants and Trees' galleries when they officially open on Thursday, February 18.
Financial support from the Heritage Lottery Fund, the Wolfson Foundation, North West Museum Service and Warrington Borough Council has enabled the museum to revamp and update its collections for the first time in 60 years.
There will be books and leaflets about geology and botany, an interactive computer display and 68 discovery drawers packed with previously unseen rocks, fossils and minerals.
Schoolchildren can enjoy a special preview, on February 16 and 17, during the half-term holiday when the museum will be running activity days. Youngsters visiting after 2.30pm on February 18 will also receive a free dinosaur goodie bag.
