TAX payers in Warrington look set to face a £30 increase in their Council Tax bill in the coming year.

The bill for a band D property is set to rise from £634.49 to £661.77, according to council chiefs, who are predicting a 4.3 per cent increase in charges.

They say this is necessary to balance a six per cent increase in council spending over the coming year.

That charge excludes the Cheshire Police Authority precept, which was £53.86 for a band D property last year, and parish council precepts.

Those precepts will be determined during February and formally announced on March 1.

A final decision will be made on the charges at the meeting of the council's Policy Committee on Monday evening.
