BUSINESSES could have less red tape to cut through if a new initiative proves successful.

Council chiefs wants to work more closely with firms they have to check on, to make the process easier.

The council is responsible for making sure a wide variety of firms are keeping within the law, in areas like food hygiene, health and safety and environmental health.

Now the planned Local Business Partnership should streamline the regulation process - and help firms understand it better.
