GREAT SANKEY Parish Council has recently discussed putting a security fence around the Bewsey Barns Community Centre to deter acts of vandalism that have occurred there.

Following these discussions the Parish Council applied for the necessary planning permission to erect the fence.

Some users of the centre together with several residents of Whittle Hall have raised concerns about certain aspects of the proposed fence that they were not happy about.

After consulting with the people concerned we are withdrawing the planning application to give further consideration to the matter with a view to re-applying when these concerns have been addressed and a way forward agreed.

We have taken this action as we are always mindful of our commitment to the people we represent and wherever possible try to reach a balanced outcome after taking note of any issues raised by the community.
