Spartak's problems continue as they went down 3-2 against Travellers Rest. The usual strike force of Andy Taylor and Adrian Hay were the creditors. Runcorn Villa now top this division thanks to a 6-1 win over Norlands.

Two big shocks in Division Three. Leaders Crontonians found themselves 5-0 down at half-time to Silver Birch but despite a gallant fight back they lost 5-4.

Third placed Tommy's Clock Face also came a cropper 5-1 to Step Up Assassins. Kevin Bretherton was their lone marksman.

Rainhill Town took full advantage of these mishaps by recording their ninth successive victory as they overwhelmed St. Benedicts 7-0. On the goal trail were Tony Watson, two, Phil Kelly, Ian Ormond, Adrian Ralph, Steve Pratt and Paul Byrne.

First division East Leigh have booked a semi-final place in the Guardian Cup thanks to a 5-3 win after extra time against Mid-Cheshire outfit Rylands. The losers' consolation efforts came courtesy of Mark Wilson, Paul Atkinson and Nick Dutton.

Safeways Reserves overcame Widnes R&S Reserves 3-0 in a Rylands Cup match with Tommy Wiseman, Dave Gallop and Terry Whaley all finding the target. Daten fourth pulled off the shock result in this competition as the lowly Reserve Division Three side triumphed 3-2 at Padgate St. Oswalds Reserves who play in Section One.

In the Reg Oliver Trophy Whiston Cross Reserves overcome Moore Reserves 5-3. Moore were 4-0 down before they introduced super sub Malcolm Holt who made an immediate impact by scoring a quick fire double. Mark Kerfoot then grabbed his first goal of the season to make it 4-3 but Whiston rallied to score the killer goal.

A hat-trick by Irlam Catholic Club's prolific scorer James Boardman saw off Orford Youth Club 3-1 in a Depot Cup match. Orford's reply came from Mike Quarmby.

In the Reserve Sections veteran Paul Radley nodded home a rare goal for his team Eagle third. Ian Smith and Shaun Kay also netted but all to no avail as they crashed 4-3 at Lymm Rangers.

Mike Conduit's and Andy McNairn's efforts for Daten were not enough as they went down 4-2 to Golborne Sports.
