YOUNGSTERS from Padgate's Freshman Drum and Bugle Corps are blowing their own trumpets thanks to a cash injection from Warrington Round Table.

After a winning year in national band competitions, the Corps is on a fundraising drive to help them start 1999 on a sweet note of success.

So Warrington Round Table came to the rescue with a £150 donation to buy a vibraphone, a marimba, and new hats for all Corps members. The boost came as part of the Round Table's Fix-It Campaign, which aims to distribute small amounts of money instead of giving a large sum to one major group or charity.

To raise funds for the Fix-It campaign the Round Table is holding a sportsman's dinner at Birchwood Golf Club on Friday, February 19.

Guest speaker will be England World Cup star Gordon Banks and the evening will feature comedy from Hal Nolan of The Comedians.

Tickets are £25 and available from Gary Weilding on 0370-693939.

To apply for Fix-It funds, write stating why you deserve the cash to: Round Table Fix-It Campaign, c/o Nicola Priest, Deputy Editor, Warrington Guardian, 138 Bridge Street, Warrington, WA1 2RU, enclosing an SAE if a reply is needed.
