HELP The Aged has denied reports that shops are to close because of a slump in high street sales.

The charity, with shops in Warrington and Stockton Heath, has seen a £1 million drop in profits over the past year. But a spokesman insisted it would not affect the stores.

Joanne McCloud said: "We will not be closing any shops. We are currently in discussion with staff about other cost-cutting measures.

"We are grateful to members of the public in Warrington who have supported and helped us and the news is we will remain open."
