A WARRINGTON superstore is backing a peace initiative which sends students to Northern Ireland to gain a greater understanding of the province's troubles.
Marks and Spencer at the Gemini Retail Park handed over a cheque for £5,000 to help fund the Tim Parry Scholarship. This was set up by Tim's father, Colin, in the wake of the Bridge Street bombing which claimed Tim's life.
Colin said: "The scholarship costs around £8,000 each year and this substantial contribution from Marks and Spencer will go a long way towards this."
Colin approached the store for financial help and store manager Mike Davies was keen to get involved.
He said: "Marks and Spencer has supported the peace process over a number of years in Ireland and this was an ideal opportunity to continue our support. "We are pleased to assist another element of the peace process here in Warrington."
