Halton Girls u12s 1 Chester 1

A POINT was the least Halton deserved from a game they dominated from start to finish.

Having taken the lead in the second minute, Chester only managed one other meaningful shot on target all game, even then it was easily dealt with by keeper Lauren Farrell who is in a tremendous run of form.

On the other rare occasions they broke forward, Halton's defenders were relatively untroubled, Helen Snee and Emma Kirby dealt fairly comfortably with most that Chester offered and Kayleigh Willcox had her best game of the season in an unfamiliar position.

Despite their early set-back Halton showed great self-belief and character. Hannah Pauline worked tirelessly but couldn't convert on several occasions. Lucy Osborne twice hit the woodwork and Kelly Jones did everything but score.

Natalie Brady whose performance in the second-half earned her mom created several excellent chances to no avail.

Chester, to their credit, defended well but eventually Halton managed to make the breakthrough. Vicky Jones fired a tremendous effort from outside the area, the ball took a slight deflection but the power of the shot was too much for the hapless keeper. The equaliser spurred Halton to even greater efforts but it was to no avail.

If luck is supposed to even itself out over a season, the Borough side have had their first installment.
