Manager Dave Twite has seen most of the young crop of players leave Middlewich for Nantwich Town, so he hopes he can hang on to 17-year-old Langley, the two-goal hero of Town's 3-1 win over Warrington Borough on Saturday.
Twite said: "Gareth was superb on Saturday and he's been the bright light for us this season.
"He had an indifferent couple of games recently but he's coming back to top form and I'm hoping he'll sign.
"I'm annoyed that we've lost so many players to Nantwich Town, like Dave Heywood and Danny Griggs, and that's what I'm trying to stop."
Twite has decided to strengthen his forward line, with strikers Les Miranda, from neighbours Middlewich Vaults, and Ben Fuller, from Chester, figuring in Saturday"s victory.
The lack of fire-power in Town's last two defeats prompted the manger to take action.
He said: I had to change the forward line because we need goals badly.
"We've been missing chances so I had to bring new players in. I wanted to stick with the guys I already had, but up front we haven't been good enough."
Darryl Moss, a wing-back, also from Chester, played against Warrington and Twite takes his bulky squad to Rylands this Saturday, in the Mid-Chehsire League, kick-off pm.
