KNUTSFORD turned the tables on Atlantic at Navigation Road on Saturday.

But they had to be at their brilliant best to do so and defeat a team that the previous week had beaten table toppers Pelican Rovers.

It was an important victory for second-placed Knutsford.

Lee Hargreaves and Matthew Stimpson ripped the home team apart in the first-half and it was only a matter of time before their hard work was rewarded.

Hargreaves received a neat pass from Darby in the 20th minute and made good ground.

Stimpson then delivered the perfect cross for Moss to head home.

The home team came back strongly and Knutsford's goalkeeper had a couple of shaky moments.

Moments into the second-half, Knutsford had to defend a succession of corners and free kicks and were coping well until giant centre-half Cann equalised after 65 minutes.

Knutsford survived a lengthy period of Atlantic pressure before slipping back into top gear for 20 minutes of brilliant football.

Darby scored the goal of the game after a brillant flick on from Jimmy Evans.

With 10 minutes left Barnhill slipped his marker and played a simple pass to Evans, who scored from eight yards.

Brown and Sheldon were once again outstanding for Knutsford and their defensive partnership has been a key feature in Knutsford's recent success.

On Saturday Knutsford meet Timperley Wanderers in the semi-final of the Altrincham Senior Cup at Ridgeway Road, Timperley. Kick off 2.15pm.
