IT being international weekend Crewe & Nantwich had no league match so the club took the opportunity to go back to yesteryear and play some social rugby.
They sent two sides to Beverley in Yorkshire to play the former club of Crewe's Gavin Cowans and the Vets travelled to Chester for an early kick-off and an afternoon viewing of the big games.
At home a mixed team made up of players from all Crewe sides played at Port Sunlight XV winning by a comfortable margin of 17-0.
Try scorers for Crewe were the two 1st teamers Jimmy Nicholls scoring twice and Jim Taw.
Next Saturday its back to the serious stuff for Crewe when they host Newton-le-Willows in a vital league game (ko 2.30).
Crewe need two wins from their remaining four league encounters to guarantee safety. This is one they have earmarked as a possibility!
