NANTWICH Town fought bravely to narrowly lose out at top of the table Newcastle, despite playing most of the game with 10 men.

Dabbers lost 2-1 after Andy Brownsword was harshly given his marching orders on 12 minutes for a mis-timed tackle - his first offence.

Newcastle took the lead on 64 minutes when the Nantwich keeper failed to punch the ball away leaving an easy tap in from six yards for Dean Gillick.

Town went two down on 75 minutes when a cross from the left caught the defence appealing for offside and Darren Twigg lobbed the ball over the keeper.

Joey Roberts pulled one back 10 minutes from full-time, sending the Newcastle number one the wrong way from the spot after Danny Griggs was brought down in the area.
