FENCING on Edleston Road Bridge looks set to be repaired by Railtrack after the matter was raised by a Crewe councillor.
The recent high winds blew down part of the fencing on the bridge and councillor June Roberts contacted the borough council's works division.
Staff from the council put a temporary and secure panel in place to make the situation safe and Cllr Roberts then contacted Railtrack which is responsible for the fence.
She also reInforced her request for action when she met Nigel Barber, Railtrack's public relations manager at a local government conference in Manchester.
"The temporary repair is OK but a permanent repair is really required as it could be dangerous if we have another high wind."
A spokeswoman for Railtrack said the bridge had been inspected by Railtrack and new fencing was to be installed for the whole length of the bridge.
