COMMUNITY groups in Crewe and Nantwich are set to benefit from a £60,000 Millennium Commission grant.
The borough council has worked with a host of groups since 1997 to come up with ideas for local Millennium events and celebrations.
A combined application was sent to the Festival Larger Awards Fund and Culture Secretary Chris Smith MP announced on Monday that it was among over 1,000 successful bids.
Schemes boosted by the grant include a community play in Nantwich and a photography project covering the whole of the borough.
Councillor Howard Curran said: "We are delighted for these groups that we have been successful on their behalf and will continue to work with them on their projects to ensure they are successful and memorable.
"As a keen historian and with a real interest in photography I am particularly pleased to see that the photographic project has been supported. It is something which everyone can get involved in."
