PLUCKY pensioner Arthur Martin got a big kick out of the surprise visitor lined up by a 'home' team helping him cope with an artificial leg.
The 82-year-old Crewe Alex fan had come to the end of a temporary stay at Mayfield House where trained staff had been helping him with rehabilitation.
He was preparing to return to his own home in Crewe when in popped Rodney Jack, a leading light in the team he has supported for more than 50 years.
The speedy winger called to give him the club's best wishes and deliver a card signed by the squad.
The long time fan was "thrilled to bits" to meet the young player and the two swapped Alex stories.
Arthur voiced his thoughts on how the team could improve its bottom of the league situation and Rodney promised to look out for him at this coming Saturday's match.
The former train worker will be sitting amongst the disabled supporters after so many years on the terraces.
Rodney's visit was organised by staff at Mayfield House.
"We felt Arthur deserved a treat as he had done so well during his rehabilitation. He got through it without any fuss and we were all impressed," said the manager of the Crewe residential home, Ann Walley.
