ENVIRONMENTAL Health officers in Crewe and Nantwich are warning local people with hazelnut allergies about a product recall.
The Department of Health has alerted the borough council to a recall of 550ml Nestle Lyons Maid 'New' Cascade Toffee Ice Cream.
Due to a fault in the production process the product contains small pieces of hazelnut but this is not mentioned on the packaging.
People who are allergic to hazelnuts must not eat this product and should dispose of it.
The packs in question have the quality code MAR/2000 L-8 272 on the Best Before End panel. For a full refund cut out and send the end panel with this code to Lyons Maid Cascade Ice Cream Recall, PO Box 205, York, YO91 1XY.
People who are not allergic to hazelnuts can continue to eat the product.
For more information call Freephone 0800 262491 between 8am and 6pm, or contact Environmental Health on 01270 537423.
