I HAVE recently been made aware of the fresh plans to develop Peel Hall with 1100 dwellings.
To my knowledge this is the third attempt to push through the development of this area and so I would like to put forward the following points.
1. This area by the Warrington plan is designated white belt, being available if housing was needed for the community. I should think the housing stock of Warrington is at record levels and with current developments occuring throughout the area I fail to see the need for these proposed new dwellings.
Perhaps Warrington is to become a commuter town for the whole North West!
2. The access to this proposed development is across a recreation ground containing two football pitches and acres where local children play in safety. Do we really want to lose this valued piece of land for the generation of children to follow? This government talks of spreading sport to the people and encouraging our youngsters - is the destruction of these playing fields the message they wish to send to the children of Warrington?
3. The infastructure of this area could not possibly cope with the traffic caused by new developments. At present rush hours are chaotic! Do we wish to create a new "Cromwell Avenue" and all traffic misery from Winwick Quay to Westbrook?
4. Many people far more qualified than myself would tell you of the wildlife and fauna of Peel Hall, which has become the lungs of North Warrington, do we really want to lose all of this for no apparent gain?
I would clearly like to know where all our local representatives stand on this issue, the silence is deafening. Is it not possible for our local councillors and member of Westminster to inform the electorate where they stand on this issue and bring the issue out into the open.
