Tetley Walker 2

Woodley Sports 0

TWO first half goals against Woodley Sports lifted battling Tetley Walker into fifth place in North Western Trains League Division Two.

Woodley started the game brightly and caused their hosts numerous problems but Walker hit their visitors with two goals in four minutes to secure the points.

Tony Healey dribbled his way through the Woodley defence before releasing Tony Plant who cut the ball back across the goal for Stuart Clay to bundle the ball home from close range in the 20th minute.

Then Justin Farrelly's 20 yard drive was touched on to the cross bar by the Woodley goalkeeper. The rebound was headed back into the six yard area and into the net by Plant.

The second half was played almost exclusively in Walker's half but Woodley, unbeaten since before Christmas, could not find a way past a resolute Tetley defence.

Goalkeeper Lee Medland pulled off several top class saves in a man of the match display and when Woodley managed to get past him, full back Karl Jones twice cleared off the line.

Team: Medland, Holden, D. Plant, Maher, Trantum, K. Jones, Farrelly, Preidt, T. Plant, Clay, Healey. Subs: Hunt, Gwyther, Street.
