LAST year my elderly mother spent a month in Warrington General Hospital. I have just spent a period there also.
On each occasion, I have been tremendously impressed by the cheerful dedication of the doctors, nurses, orderlies and porters. They work with seemingly timeless devotion and are always on hand with encouragement and support. The meals are also of a high standard - incredible, when one considers the volume of patients to be catered for.
Can anyone please explain to me why we, as a nation, encourage enormous payments to "fat cats" and yet offer our remarkable vocational people salaries which are frankly an insult? It disgusts me.
