MY enjoyment of the Warrington v Halifax game was marred by the opening TV credits. During a panoramic view of the stadium the commentator called it Lowry country.
Warrington is not a depressed skeleton of rotten hovels, cobbled streets, decaying mills and pitiful inhabitants, clogging their way to the workhouses.
It is a vibrant, progressive and prosperous New Town, liberated from BBC Northern stereotypes!
