ONCE again we have arrived at that time of the year when the council releases its hordes of arboreal assassins to mutilate all the trees in the borough.
For the past couple of weekends we have seen the beautiful trees on Wilderspool Causeway reduced to resemble a line of multi-pronged toasting forks. Within the borough all trees, regardless of variety, are mutilated and cut into a preconceived shape which I assume the perpetrators think is pretty.
Don't they know that different species have different shapes and habits and some trees such as Prunus varieties should be pruned in the summer?
Are these assassins tree surgeons or are Warrington Direct Services getting a little overtime?
