Keighley Albion 21
Crosfields 32
CROSFIELDS' complacency nearly cost them the game as bottom club Keighley Albion put in a determined performance.
The home side caught Soap napping with a grubber kick which was pounced upon by the right wing.
The visitors bounced back when Dave Gibbons made a break on the last tackle and put Danny Lomax through to score. Holroyd converted.
Carl Porter burrowed his way over from close to give Soap the lead soon after.
Complacency set in and Keighley were gifted a converted try and a half-time lead of 12-10.
From the restart, Keighley raced 70 metres down the left wing. Russ Parkman produced a great tackle but the dislodged ball fell straight into the arms of a supporting player to score.
A penalty and drop goal extended Keighley's lead to 21-10.
Crosfields looked down and out but staged an impressive recovery inspired by Neil Brough.
Winger Holroyd scored out wide from a move started by Brough and Gibbons then showed superb fleet of foot to side-step three players as he crossed the line. Holroyd goaled.
Matt Mahoney was next on the scoresheet, taking the ball 30 metres as he barged through the home side's defence.
Holroyd converted and then added a penalty before Ian Hannon finished the scoring with a try in the corner, inevitably form a Brough break.
Brough was outstanding in attack aided by Gibbons, while the Bannon brothers and Paul Williams worked hard on defence. Man of the match went to Matt Mahoney.
