PUPILS at St. James's CE Primary School are proving that the pen is mightier than the sword by cementing their penpal friendships with the children of Northern Ireland.
The Year Five students first started to write to the pupils at Clough Primary and St. Macartan's Primary school, in Ireland, four months ago through the Warrington Project.
They will be meeting their new-found friends for the first time on a visit to Ireland on March 24.
The friendship was created to help both sides learn about and begin to understand attitudes to conflict. The Warrington Project has funded the trip to help bring the people of Warrington and Northern Ireland closer together.
Secretary at St. James's Diane Southworth said: "The children are all very excited to be finally meeting their new friends. It will really help the children understand peace and friendship."
