WATCHDOGS are warning Newton traders to be vigilant after a survey saw three stores sell adult videos to children.
In recent undercover checks by St Helens Trading Standards, three stores in the area sold 18-rated videos to a 15-year-old girl assisting the council officers.
Clr Alma Atherto, Deputy Chair of the council's Housing and Environmental Services Committee, said: "Previous surveys of adult rated videos had, in the main, been encouraging with very few illegal sales. These latest results are a setback and traders need to be much more vigilant when seilling age restricted goods."
