SUPERSLEUTHS at Newton Library hit the tale trail last week to explore the wonderful world of books.
The Information Investigators Day was aimed at encouraging children to take charge of their own reading. A search for clues familiarised them with the library's resources, and their curiosity was rewarded at the end of the day with special certificates.
After plundering the library shelves, the budding bookworms all agreed it was an open and shut case!
The event was organised by the council's Partnership with Parents in Newton scheme to tie in with the National Year of Reading's Search and Read Month.
Storytimes for under fives take place at Trees Community Centre, Alder Street, every Tuesday from 2.15pm and at the library every Thursday from 2pm. All pre-school children, parents and carers are welcome.
A family reading group also takes place every Tuesday from 3.45pm to 4.30pm at Newton Family and Community Centre.
