A PILOT scheme aimed at improving Newton's poor health record has been declared a success.
Residents of the Wargrave and Fairbrother estates were invited to Newton Health Clinic for free lifestyle and fitness checks during a five-day trial.
Those who took advantage of the scheme will be invited back in three month's time to monitor their progress.
Health workers are also running five-week health and fitness courses from the clinic and from Wargrave's Trees Estate.
Clinic spokeswoman Janet Gittins said: "Everyone gained extra tips on how to keep healthy and fit some exercise into their daily routine, but we will see how they got on in three months' time."
For further information on this and the next free fitness test, call Janet on 221341.
