A PIONEERING first aid machine will be installed at Warrington Market this month.
The British Heart Foundation has donated a defibrillator to the people of the town as part of their nationwide Start a Heart campaign. The machine works by sending electric shocks through the heart to restart it after a cardiac arrest.
The busy market, which welcomes 10,000 people at weekends has four security guards who were trained how to use the machine. Paramedic and instructor Steve Hallmark said: "The machine will be invaluable in capitalising on the precious first few minutes in an emergency situation and will save lives."
Warrington Councillor, Lilly Clarke welcomed events, saying: "We are leading the way to assure the safety of shoppers entering the market."
