THE discovery of baby Callum shocked the town, especially the community close to where his body was found.
Many people were moved to make donations towards a fund set up to pay for his funeral service and a headstone for his grave.
Staff and shoppers at nearby Asda Westbrook were among those who dug deep to raise money for the murdered infant, collecting more than £1,200 in total.
Ann Zamora, who works at the supermarket, said: "A lot of people in the community were shocked and upset, especially those with young children. It was something that touched everyone's heart.
"I walk my dog next to the spot every day and still wonder whether they will find the mother or what became of her. It's an extremely sad story," she said.
The store will send a floral tribute to Callum's grave to mark the first anniversary.
