TRAIN travellers in Warrington should see an improvement in services by the end of the year, says a passengers' representative based in the town.
Brendan O'Friel, chairman of the Rail Users' Consultative Committee for the north west, represented the region at John Prescott's national rail summit. The conference highlighted problem areas in the north west which have a knock-on effect for Warrington rail users.
Rail companies have admitted that services need to improve and are implementing action plans.
Mr O'Friel believes passengers should gradually receive a better service. He said: "We must wait and see these promised improvements in practice but we should start to see real improvements by the end of 1999. Next year should be a better year all round for rail travellers."
