A WARRINGTON couple are hoping they will be lucky in love second time around after remarrying each other in a surprise ceremony.

They say lightning doesn't strike the same place twice but Cupid's arrow certainly did for David and Mary Perrins. The couple, from Marsh Street, Orford, first married in 1985, divorced six years later but married each other again last month.

The romantic ceremony in Cyprus was a secret surprise for their daughter Julie who was on holiday there with her family at the time.

Mary, aged 50, said: "Julie lives in Saudi Arabia and was on holiday in Cyprus. We hadn't seen her since last summer. She had no idea we were planning on coming out to Cyprus and she certainly didn't know we were planning to get married. When I popped my head around her bedroom door she was shocked and when we told her our plans she couldn't believe it!"

It was a real family affair with granddaughters Megan and Emily as bridesmaids and grandson Louis performing page boy duties. Daughter Debbie was also there.

Love had blossomed again for the perfect pair four years after their divorce.

Mary said: "We just sort of drifted apart and went our different ways. But we had to keep in regular touch because of our three grandchildren and we would often bump into each other during visits.

"It was a little hard because we weren't really speaking to each other for a while. But because of the family we would see each other quite a lot and we started to keep in touch."

David, aged 58, asked Mary out on a lunch date and their feelings for each other soon bloomed once more. But Mary wouldn't change a thing.

She said: "It feels really lovely to be married again. We are very happy and I am sure everything will be better second time around."
