Widnes St Michael's u12s 10
Ashton Bears u12s 0
WIDNES produced a magnificent display to take them through to the semi-finals of the cup.
Ashton are probably one of the better sides in this Division but their reputation was a little greater than their play on the pitch.
Take nothing away from Widnes, they out-played and out-tackled their opponents off the park.
The score line flattered the away side a little because Widnes could have scored two or three tries following swift moves on the left-hand side.
Ryan Millington and Martin Hill were busy in attack with Jamie Walsh making good yards up the field.
Widnes broke through with an Adam Gill try.
Shaun McWhirter's conversion was backed up with his tough tackling with equal support from Mark Collins and Ian Campbell.
The pitch managed to keep firm after all the weekend rain and it didn't deter strong running from Richard Hunter and David Noone from deep.
The home side were sometimes their own worst enemy and were put under pressure with silly penalties and playing panic football in their own half.
Adam Gill's second try gave a little breathing space and to nil the opposition made this victory even sweeter.
