RED Mansley drove into office on Sunday as the new captain of Widnes Golf Club in the year of the 75th anniversary of the Highfield Road course.
Mansley marked his inauguration by leading a team of Widnes members in a match against a team led by his predecessor Charlie Kevan and honours were shared as the fourball better-ball contest finished 4-4.
There have been three such contests to mark the club's change of hierarchy.
The first was a match in which outgoing captain Kevan was out-gunned by a line-up representing the president Chris Dunne.
Then Kevan teamed up with the club's highly-regarded professional Jason O'Brien and posted a score that none of the pairings of members could match.
