THE prospect of Leeds in the next round of the Silk Cut may be the talk of Widnes supporters, but to coach Colin Whitfield it is a "distraction".
With league success the priority, Colin said of the Challenge Cup: "It's a distraction to me.
"We come to the scenario now where we are playing Leeds on the Sunday and are probably having to play Featherstone on the Wednesday. It is probably detrimental to the season."
Describing the Leigh performance as "lacksadaisical", Colin said: "We contributed to our own downfall at times.
"We can't carry on doing the things we are doing and getting away with them."
"I would say concentration is one word, and just the basics we need to do better.
"The players know that they can improve themselves individually and as a unit.
"We have got to show more consistency."
