Mond Reserves 1

Helsby BICC 7

MOND manager Rod Looker was bitterly disappointed with his team's performance against high-flying Helsby BICC.

We have had some good results over the past few weeks but we just did not perform on Saturday.

We missed Martin Daly in midfield but I don't want to take anything away from Helsby.

The visitors took the lead in the seventh minute when Smith sidefooted home, Mond had a fair share of the game but rarely tested Colins in the Helsby goal.

Graham Jacques was causing Mond problems down the left and from that side of the pitch the visitors increased their lead in the 30th minute, again Smith being the marksman.

Two goals in a minute before the interval and one straight after the restart put the game well out of Mond's reach.

All three subs were used by Mond and it paid off when Flaherty hit a fierce shot that Collins parried and Scott Howard following, got a consolation goal.

Helsby, not to be denied, got two more goals to rub salt into the wounded Mond side.

Mom for Mond, Ian Rockliff and Helsby, Mike Smith.

Mond Rangers Bonanza was won by Mrs J Gades No29.
