Mond Rangers 3 Ashville 0
AN excellent team performance, was manager Pete Ellis' verdict on this victory against the county champions.
Mond took the lead in the 33rd minute, when Wood and Crane combined to find Dwyer who laid on a pass that Simon Burton crashed home from 20 yards.
Burton got a second within a minute of the kick-off, when again some interpassing between Crane, Flaherty and Evans set him up for a shooting opportunity that he took, firing into the bottom corner.
Ashville put Mond under pressure for the remainder of the half but with Dave Williams outstanding at centre-half, Bate was rarely troubled.
In injury time Burton broke away to complete his hat-trick, dipping the ball over the oncoming keeper.
Mond almost caught Ashville cold in the first minute of the second-half, Wood putting Dwyer through, the keeper foiled the Mond striker by parrying out his shot and Burton was unable to take advantage of the loose ball.
Mond were awarded a penalty when Wood was tripped, keeper Jason Bate stepped up but was disappointed to see Rigg fingertip his spot-kick for a corner. Mom, Simon Burton.
Meanwhile, Mond Reserves went down 5-0 at Helsby BIC. They lost keeper Paul Rooke with a hamstring injury then went down to 10 men following a wrist injury to John Urmson.
Mond Bonanza was won by No91. Next Saturday Mond are home to Bromborough Pool in a league fixture, kick-off 3pm, sponsors Domestic Boiler Services Ltd. Mond Reserves travel to meet Aintree Villa in a Division Three game.
