Instead, thanks to Mike Worthington, Tom Shaw and the incredible Tom Stelfox, I found myself at a 'christening.'
To be honest, I thought Witton's debts were too big to be paid off in time to save the club - but I reckoned without the above three and some fantastic Witton supporters.
And instead of leaving the meeting depressed, I left with a new spring in my step . . . Witton are very much on their way back.
The people who got Witton in this plight are fortunately long gone and we CAN make a new start.
Could I ask that all those Wittoners who have not been to watch the team for a while make the effort over the next few matches and give the club, its directors and supporters a much deserved boost to see them on their way to a new and much brighter future.
