The reasons have also been well documented during that time.
Suffice to say, the problems of today are as a result of catastrophic financial management and overspending on a grand scale over the last decade.
But the time for repercussions has gone, the time for action is now.
Following Monday night's meeting it is clear that the decision as to whether the club should be saved is firmly in the hands of us Wittoners.
I believe that, from a community and historic point of view, the club needs to be saved.
To do that we have to raise £50,000 by the end of this month and there are several schemes being put into place for this happen.
The most significant scheme is that of life membership. Ideally, we need 30 supporters to contribute £1,000 each by the end of this month.
Once we are over this hurdle I am convinced the club can go from strength to strength with the professional business management team which is now in place.
So come on all of those people out there who purport to be Wittoners, act now while there is still time before the club is lost forever.
