He finished 30th in a high quality field of 90 riders for the three stage event held on the roads of Ruthin, Denbigh and Mold.
It was only his second competition of the season after having missed all of last season through illness.
The rider, for whom Weaver Valley CC is his second choice team, was consistent during the three stages and finished strongly despite a four mile climb in the closing stages.
The event was won by Gareth Sheppard of the East Cardiff JIF Cyclespeed team.
WEAVER Valley's Dave Daynes and Dave Astles are competing in the Arnold Cowan Handicap road race in Byley on Sunday.
Astles is a double winner of the event who was second last year.
THE club run leaves Iron Bridge, Castle at 9.30am on Sunday.
