'WE had too many players under performing, a shadow of the team which beat Kettering.
We had plenty of possession but there seemed a lack of urgency, no cutting edge or passion. It is that same old problem of failing to produce the goods against the lower placed sides.
I told the players it wasn't going to be an easy game and that anybody can beat anybody in this league if you don't work your socks off for the result, but for some reason they didn't perform.
I think, though, that if we had pulled a goal back in the opening half we would have gone on to win the match because they weren't a good side. I'm sure they would have folded if we had just found that one goal.
The first goal was a sucker punch and the cross for the second shoud have been cut out, but they were the only two worthy chances they had in the first half and, once they were ahead, they fought for the win.
Bentley was a tower of strength for them because they're not a good side.
We had several opportunities but never really forced their 'keeper into action. The two early goals knocked the stuffing out of us but we did raise our game to a certain extent but the usual drive was missing.
I have told the players I don't want the committment to slip in the league because I want us to go into the Trophy game brimming with confidence.'
