Swindon Town - 1 Crewe Alexandra - 2
CREWE were keen to get back in action when they faced a Swindon side which had not won at the County Ground since Boxing Day last Saturday.
The pace and opportunism of Rodney Jack was seen to good effect 16 minutes in when a long clearance from the Crewe defence caused problems for Swindon.
Jack collected the ball and, seeing Talia off his line, easily beat him with a well placed lob.
That goal did wonders for the Alex and their neat passing and positional play saw them frequently causing problems for the home side.
Just 16 minutes later Colin Little won a corner on the left, Jermaine Wright's kick was not cleared and it found Rodney Jack who clipped the ball back for Phil Charnock to crash the ball home.
Defenders had to be constantly alert as Swindon mounted many attacks in the second half and the home side did pull one back when a misjudgement allowed Hay to volley home from close range.
As the game went into its last quarter, the Alex called on all their substitutes, firstly Macauley for Lightfoot then a double change, Street for Murphy and Rivers for Jack. It was after the changes that Rivers brought a good save from Talia which stopped Crewe going further in front.
