MORRISONS has been given the go ahead to build a new store, petrol station and parking for more than 600 cars in Crewe.
The new 83,000sq ft store will be built at Richard Moon Street alongside a new road linking West Street and Edleston Road across the former Adtranz land.
Planning committee charman Chris Thorley said he was delighted the plans were coming together.
"I'm particularly glad to see that there will be good access to the superstore site for everyone," he said.
"Pedestrians will have four points of access and there will be dedicated pedestrian routes across the site.
"There is to be a taxi rank with a telephone, cycle routes and motorcycle parks.
"We have also asked the developer to provide a large number of parent and child parking and disabled parking spaces. Once the site has been completed it will be a great asset for the town."
Work is set to start this summer.
