BRITISH Waterways engineers have been working on the canal through Nantwich in a bid to repair a leak in the aqueduct.
Last Wednesday it was reported that there was water leaking from the Shropshire Union Canal at the aqueduct over Welsh Row.
Engineers moved in to start work and discovered the leak was coming from the brick work.
Although there have been no reports of accidents they suspect it was caused by a vehicle hitting the aqueduct.
Dams were put in the canal which was drained and machinery was put in place on Tuesday to repair the clay seal which was installed two years ago.
A spokesman said there weren't any structural problems and the work should be completed within a few days.
