POLICE are appealing for witnesses following an attempted robbery at a shop in Wistaston.
The incident happened at 12.20pm last Sunday, March 14, at Londis newsagents in Kings Drive, Wistaston.
A man entered the shop, picked up a box of matches and approached the counter as if intending to pay.
He demanded cash and showed the shop assistant the butt of a revolver which was in the waistband of his trousers.
He attempted to reach into the till as it was slammed shut but was unsuccessful and ran out of the shop with the box of matches he had originally picked up.
He turned right out of the shop towards Church Lane. None of the shop assistants were injured.
The offender is described as white, 5ft 11, early 20s with short ginger hair wearing a black long sleeved pullover or shirt with a logo similar to Giorgio, dark coloured trainers and a baseball cap.
CID at Crewe would like to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious around the time of the robbery or who knows the offender.
Police are also keen to speak to the owners of a green hand-painted car seen in the area who may be valuable witnesses.
