THE cricket scene in Warrington is set to undergo further upheaval as the North West Counties League
amalgamates with the Manchester and District Association.
Rylands, Grange, Culcheth Daten and Glazebury will all be effected when play-offs to decide the formation of the new league get underway in the second half of the season.
The complicated merging process will involve teams from both leagues playing each other for places in the premier league, which will come into effect in 2000.
This top league will hold 12 clubs and there are expected to be two further leagues below it.
Clubs from the Manchester Association will be favoured in the merging process and are guaranteed a minimum of six premiership places from the outset.
The league - which will use the Manchester and District Association name in the short term after the merger - are inviting clubs from outside of both leagues to join them.
